Zion Williamson to miss multiple weeks after All-Star break

New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson re-aggravated his hamstring injury, the team’s executive vice president David Griffin said per multiple reports. The 22-year-old forward is expected to miss multiple additional weeks after the All-Star Break (17-19 February).

Williamson re-aggravated his injury on the court. He had been working towards his return to action with 3-on-3 sessions and now it seems that this new problem will keep him out for quite some time.

The Pelicans saw Williamson suffering a right hamstring strain on during a 122-111 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on January 2. The initial projection was that the injury will keep him out for several weeks.

This is a tough blow for the Pelicans who . Before his injury, Williamson was averaging 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists while his team was 17-12 with him on the lineup. New Orleans’ overall record this season without Zion is 12-16 and they have gone 6-14 since he got hurt.

Williamson has had multiple injury problems throughout his career with the Pelicans, having now played 114 games since 2019.
