Dallas Mavericks are going international for the second time during Luka Doncic’s tenure and will play an exhibition game against Real Madrid in Spain next preseason.
The details were announced at Friday night’s Mavs Ball, so Doncic will get a chance to play against his former club, and some of his former teammates.
The match is scheduled for October 10 at WiZink Center in Madrid.
Doncic started his professional career with Real Madrid and played three seasons for the senior team, from 2015 to 2018.
During the 2017-18 season, Doncic averaged career high in points, assists, rebounds, and field goal percentage in extended minutes as he went on to help the club defeat Fenerbahçe to win the EuroLeague championship in May 2018, being named the EuroLeague Final Four MVP.
Luka was also named EuroLeague regular season MVP and was the youngest player to win the award at 19 years old. Dončić was selected to the All-EuroLeague First Team and declared for the 2018 NBA Draft, where Atlanta Haws selected him as the No. 3 overall pick and traded him to the Dallas Mavericks for draft rights to Trae Young and a protected future first-round pick.
A couple of years later, Doncic is a four-time NBA All-Star and has three All-NBA First Team selections. He won Rookie of the Year in 2019 and now is one of the MVP candidates.
