Dallas Mavericks lost to Chicago Bulls with Luka Doncic playing only 13 minutes and Kyrie Irving out of the team and got eliminated from the play-in contention, so the NBA will investigate their roster decisions and what motivated them, ESPN reports.
“The NBA commenced an investigation today into the facts and circumstances surrounding the Dallas Mavericks‘ roster decisions and game conduct with respect to last night’s Chicago Bulls–Mavericks game, including the motivations behind those actions,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said Saturday afternoon.
Dallas entered the day tied with the Bulls for the 10th-best lottery odds and the 11th-worst record in NBA. They owe the New York Knicks a top-10-protected pick as the final payment for the Kristaps Porzingis trade.
The Mavs decided to rest Irving, Tim Hardaway Jr, Josh Green, Maxi Kleber, and Christian Wood, which coach Jason Kidd described as “the organization’s decision.”
The Mavs are 11th on the Western Conference’s standings with a 38-43 score before the last regular season game vs. San Antonio Spurs.
