Giannis Antentokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are out of the NBA playoffs. The no. 1 seed of the East lost to Miami Heat in five games, as two-time MVP missed two with a back contusion.
The Greek Freak scored 38 points with 20 rebounds but shot 10-23 from the line. Still, he joined Shaquille O’Neal and Tim Duncan as the only players with double-digit 30/15 playoff performances since 2000.
After the game, he was visibly upset at the press conference when one of the reporters asked him about the season being a failure. Giannis wanted to make it clear he didn’t feel that way.
“Michael Jordan played 15 years and won 6 championships. The other nine years were a failure?” Antetokounmpo said. “Fifty years from 1971 to 2021 that we didn’t win a championship were a failure? No, they were not. There are steps to it. We won one. Hopefully, we can win another one.”
The MVP candidate continued in the same tone.
“There is no failiure in sports. Therеs good days and bad days. Some days you can be successful, some days not, Someday ints your turn, some days not. That’s what’s sports about. You don’t always win; some other people are going to win. Like this year, somebody else is going to win.”
Giannis and the Bucks will go for another championship next season.
“We will return next season, try to be better, build good habits, play better, not have a stretch of 10 days playing bad basketball, and hopefully win a championship,” Giannis Antentokounmpo concluded.
Milwaukee Bucks finished the regular season as the team with the best score in the NBA (58-24), while Antetokounmpo averaged 31,1 points, 11,8 rebounds, and 5,7 assists. In the three postseason games, he had 23,3 points per game, considering that he played only 11 minutes in Game 1.
