The Kings had a stellar regular season, but the playoffs are a different animal. Playing on the road in Game 7, Steph Curry made history by scoring 50 points and leading the Warriors to the 120-100 and to the Western Conference semifinals where the LA Lakers of LeBron James are waiting for them.
The champs were on the brink of elimination with Sacramento leading by two at halftime (58-56) and Domantas Sabonis leading the way with 16 points, but Curry hasn’t said his last word yet.
The 50 points scored by Curry are his eighth career playoff game with 40+ points, matching Rick Barry for the second-most 40-point playoff games in franchise history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s 10.
It was Curry’s show who made 20/38 FG including 7/18 threes and also had eight rebounds and six assists.
Plus Kevin Looney with 11 points and 21 rebounds also emerged as a key contributor and with his third game this series with 20+ rebounds, tied for the most in a playoff series since the NBA-ABA merger back in the 1970s.
Lithuanian All-Star Sabonis was the top scorer of the Kings with 22 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, but couldn’t save the day. Ukrainian big man Alex Len stepped on the court only for three minutes when everything was decided and grabbed one rebound.
