The NBA All-Star teams were announced and Giannis Antetokounmpo once again made history.
The Greek Freak is the only player to be voted unanimous 1st-Team All-NBA member this season. As a result, Giannis is the first player over the last 50 years to be first team All-NBA unanimously in five straight seasons.
He is joined by Slovenian Luka Doncic and also league MVP Joel Embiid who beat Nikola Jokic. The Serb had to settle for the second-team All-NBA center spot.
Joining the first team were also Boston’s Jayson Tatum and Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at guard, for a total of four international players on the top five of the NBA. Tatum got 92 first-team votes, Embiid got 87, Gilgeous-Alexander got 63 and Doncic got 60.
On the second team along with Jokic were Miami’s Jimmy Butler and Boston’s Jaylen Brown at forward, and Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell at guard.
The third team center was Lithuanian Domantas Sabonis, with the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, extending his record to 19 selections, and New York’s Julius Randle getting the forward spots and Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox and Portland’s Damian Lillard the guard selections.
