The Greek finals series is currently tied after two matches, and after attending Game 2 in OAKA, the home court of Panathinaikos, Giannis Antetokounmpo was also in the stands of the Peace and Friendship Arena in Piraeus to watch Game 3.
The NBA superstar is not alone; he is accompanied by his brother Alex and the Milwaukee Bucks coaching staff, including the new head coach, Adrian Griffin. Coaches Josh Oppenheimer – who was part of the Greek national team coaching staff in the recent Eurobasket – and Vin Baker are also in attendance.
Griffin recently took over the coaching position at Milwaukee, replacing Mike Budenholzer, and he is currently in Greece to work with the star of his new team.
Giannis had the chance to see a lot of familiar faces including EuroLeague All-Time leading scorer Vassilis Spanoulis and EuroLeague legend Theodoros Papaloukas, the point guard of the Greek national team which beat the US in the 2006 FIBA World Cup semifinal.
Spanoulis was also the top scorer of the Greek national team in that particular game.
Olympiacos won Game 3 and got a 2-1 lead in the Best-of-Five series of the Greek Finals.
The Bucks had an outstanding regular season in the NBA, finishing first in the Eastern Conference led by Giannis. However, they were unable to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs, suffering a surprising 1-4 loss to the Miami Heat.
