A new experience is coming for Ekpe Udoh. The 36-year-old Nigerian veteran, who last played in Japan with the Kyoto Hannaryz, is expected to join the Atlanta Hawks to begin a career as an assistant coach in the NBA next year alongside head coach Quin Snyder, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Playing seven years in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Utah Jazz, he also made a name for himself in Europe, rocking Fenerbahce’s jersey from 2015 to 2017, and playing only one game with Virtus Bologna.
In the EuroLeague, he averaged 12.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, shooting 57.3% from two in 58 appearances. He won the 2017 EuroLeague with the yellow-and-blue Turkish side under coach Zeljko Obradovic, being named the Final Four MVP. He also won the 2022 EuroCup with Virtus Bologna before leaving the Italian team.
