Boston Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari opted to return to the team for the 2023-24 season. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Italian player has exercised the option for the next season that was included in the two-year contract he signed with Boston in 2022.
Gallinari didn’t play in any game in his debut season with the Celtics since he was rehabbing a knee injury he had suffered last August. He had torn his ACL while playing in the World Cup Qualifiers with the Italian national team.
Before he joined the Celtics as a free agent, Gallinari averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 25.3 minutes with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2021-22 regular season. He had 16.0 points in 35.2 minutes in the playoffs.
