As officially announced by the Los Angeles Lakers, the franchise “extended qualifying offers to forward Rui Hachimura and guard Austin Reaves, it was announced today”. Therefore, “as a result of the qualifying offers, Hachimura and Reaves become restricted free agents”, the press release continues.
In the 2022-23 season, Austin Reaves avareged 13.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 28.8 minutes per game in 64 overall apperances, shooting 52.9 FG%, and 39.8% from beyond the arc. The 25-year-old was the true surprise of the Lakers‘ season, signing a two-way contract with the team in October 2021 after going undrafted following his college career in Wichita State and Oklahoma.
On the other end, Rui Hachimura joined LeBron James and teammates through a trade with the Washington Wizards on January 23, helping the yellow-and-purple club reach the Playoffs. The 25-year-old forward had 11.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game thoughout the 2022-23 season with both franchises.
The Japanese player recently announced he won’t be apart of the 2023 FIBA World Cup at home, while Austin Reaves was reportedly inserted in Team USA’s list.
