Nikola Vucevic is finalizing a three-year, $60 million contract extension with the Chicago Bulls, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
With Vucevic’s free agency looming, the Bulls and the Montenegrin center had been working towards reaching an agreement on a contract extension this month, hoping to reach a deal before the end of June. Vucevic had joined Chicago on a trade with the Orlando Magic in March 2021.
Vucevic had also shown a willingness to stay with the Bulls during the season. Chicago Vice President Arturas Karnisovas had also talked about how important it is to retain the core of the team and especially Vucevic since he had “an incredible season.”
In 2022-23, Vucevic averaged 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He matched his career-high 43 points in a win over the Golden State Warriors in January.
UPDATE: The Bulls announced that Vucevic has extended his contract with the team.
