Restricted free agent forward Cam Johnson has agreed on a four-year, $108 million deal to stay with the Brooklyn Nets, his agent Steven Heumann said to ESPN.
Johnson played college basketball for the University of Pittsburgh and later transferred to the University of North Carolina. During his time at North Carolina, Johnson showcased his shooting ability and emerged as one of the top shooters in college basketball.
In the 2019 NBA Draft, Johnson was selected with the 11th overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves and was subsequently traded to the Phoenix Suns on draft night. He quickly made an impact with the Suns and has become known for his shooting prowess and ability to stretch the floor.
As a forward, Johnson’s primary strength lies in his outside shooting. He possesses a smooth shooting stroke and has a quick release, allowing him to knock down three-pointers consistently. Johnson’s shooting ability has made him a valuable asset to the Suns’ offense and has provided spacing on the court.
In addition to his shooting, Johnson has shown improvement in other areas of his game. He has demonstrated solid basketball IQ, good court vision, and the ability to make the right passes. Defensively, he has shown effort and has the length to disrupt opponents.
Johnson has been an important contributor to the Phoenix Suns’ success. In the 2021 NBA Playoffs, he played a crucial role in the team’s run to the NBA Finals, showcasing his shooting and providing valuable minutes off the bench.
