The NBA is coming up for Serbian superstar Vasilije Micic.
Micic, 29, will ink a three-year, 23.5 million dollar contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Micic recently traveling to Oklahoma City concluded with the agreement. Meanwhile, the general manager of Anadolu Efes, Alper Yilmaz, confirmed the player’s intentions to display his talents in the NBA. Nothing is set in stone, especially during the NBA offseason, but he will make his way to the league based in North America, likely as a player of the Thunder.
Spending the last five years at Efes elevated him to a two-time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion to go along with Final MVP distinctions in both the 2021 and 2022 season-ending tournaments. In addition, he earned the season MVP award in 2021 and the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy in 2022.
His 2022-23 efforts concluded with winning the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi and amounted to 16.1 points, 5.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game over 62 appearances between the continental and domestic leagues.
Four years before joining the team based in Istanbul, he was selected with the 52nd overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. His rights were traded to the Thunder in 2020 as the NBA steadily inched closer to becoming a reality.
On the way to Efes, Micic went from Mega Vizura at the start of his professional career to FC Bayern Munich, Crvena Zvezda Telekom, Tofas, and Zalgiris.
