Domantas Sabonis has agreed to a new contract extension with the Sacramento Kings that is projected to earn him $217 million over the next five seasons, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

This deal comes as a result of a contract renegotiation between Sabonis and the Kings and the new arrangement includes a 2023-24 salary increase to $30.6 million from around $22 million. The Lithuanian would enter the 2024 free agency as an unrestricted free agent.

Sabonis played a crucial part in the Kings’ return to the playoffs this season for the first time since 2006 while being named to an All-NBA Team for the first time in his career, making the Third Team. He averaged 19.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and a career-high 7.3 assists in the regular season while Sacramento finished third in the Western Conference standings.

So far in the 2023 offseason, the Kings signed 2023 EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov from Greek powerhouse Olympiacos Piraeus. They also renewed the contracts of forward Harrison Barnes and big man Trey Lyles.
