As simultaneously reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Anthony Edwards “has agreed on a five-year designated rookie maximum deal that could be worth $260 million”.
The 21-year-old, selected with the No.1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after coming out of Georgia University, was the protagonist of an amazing season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, being the leader of the team only in his third professional season.
“I’m humbled, appreciative, and excited to remain in Minnesota as a part of this incredible Timberwolves organization. It’s amazing to see where hard work can take you”, he commented after signing the new five-year deal with the franchise.
He averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in 79 Regular Season appearances, while he stepped up in the NBA Playoffs despite losing in the First Round against the soon-to-be NBA champions Denver Nuggets. Edwards put up 31.6 points with 84.6% at the line, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in five games.
The Bulldogs product will join Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, Austin Reaves, Paolo Banchero, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, Jaren Jackson Jr, Cam Johnson, Walker Kessler, and Bobby Portis in the reported Team USA’s list for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
