Former NBA and EuroLeague player Anthony Parker has been promoted to general manager for the Orlando Magic, replacing John Hammond, who will transition into a senior advisory role.

Parker, previously an assistant GM, has steadily climbed the ranks within the Magic organization, starting as a scout and eventually becoming a G League executive before assuming the GM position.

The team also promoted Pete D’Alessandro to executive vice president of basketball operations.

Anthony brings a unique perspective to our group as a former player, and it has been great to watch his progression from player to scout to G League GM to the Magic’s assistant general manager. Anthony is the ultimate team player, and we look forward to his continued leadership, experience, and energy,” said Orlando’s president of basketball operations, Jeff Weltman.

Parker’s successful playing career included winning three EuroLeague championships with Maccabi Tel Aviv and earning two EuroLeague MVP titles. He also played for various NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Orlando Magic, as well as a brief stint in Italy.
