Nicolas Batum is gearing up to captain France in pursuing a medal at the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup, and he plans to play with the National Team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
However, it appears that he will bid farewell to his professional basketball career after that.
The seasoned forward had already announced his decision to retire from the National Team after the Paris Olympics, and his wife, Aurelie, recently shared on social media that he will indeed be concluding his entire career.
“Nico decided to end his career (NBA and France team) after the Olympics, so this is his last season with the Clippers,” she posted on Twitter, as reported first by BeBasket.

According to Aurelie Batum, Nicolas will play with the Los Angeles Clippers one more season before hanging up his boots with his contract also expiring in the summer of 2024.
Batum embarked on his career 17 years ago with Le Mans, and two years later, he transitioned to the NBA as the 25th overall pick. He spent seven years with the Portland Trail Blazers, including a brief stint with Nancy during the NBA lockout. From 2015 to 2020, he represented the Charlotte Hornets, and since 2020, the 34-year-old has been a part of the Clippers.
With the French National Team, he secured a gold medal at the 2013 EuroBasket, earned silver two years prior, and claimed bronze two years after. He also clinched two bronze medals at the World Cups in 2014 and 2019 and a silver in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
He is already part-owner with his close friend and Hall-of-Famer Tony Parker of the french EuroLeague club ASVEL.
