Philadelphia 76ers and reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid have decided to play Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics, as he confirmed himself.

Embiid could choose between France, Cameroon, and the USA and decided to play for the biggest favorite to win the gold.

Embiid is expected to be the starting center on a star-studded roster that already includes names like Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

Per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN: Embiid informed Team USA executive director Grant Hill of his decision on Thursday morning, sources said, just days after the two quietly met for close to an hour in Ft Collins, Colo., where the Sixers are holding training camp.

He ultimately chose to represent the United States, sources said, because he wants to help the United States return to the top of the international basketball world after it failed to medal at the World Championships in Manila this summer.

The French Federation expected an answer from Embiid on the issue sooner rather than later and Embiid himself also admitted recently that he was about to make up his mind.
