Three European players took the court in the Boston Celtics‘ 112-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers and ended up among the top scorers of the winning side, with Svi Mykhailiuk leading the way.
The Ukrainian finished with 15 points and six rebounds, with an almost perfect 5-6 from the field. Kristaps Porzingis added 11 points, while Portuguese center Neemias Queta used his time to the maximum, scoring 10 points with three rebounds and two assists in less than eight minutes.
Mykhailiuk reportedly signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Celtics, but with these kinds of showings, he’s on a good path to making his contract guaranteed. If he makes the opening night roster, his contract is supposed to increase to 1,200,000, and should become fully guaranteed in January.
As for Queta, he’s on a two-way deal with Boston, and games like this are showing he can be on his way to a more permanent deal sooner than later.
Serbian international Filip Petrusev played around six minutes for the Sixers, scoring two points with two rebounds in the process.
Last night, two more teams took the court, with the Los Angeles Lakers defeating the Sacramento Kings 109-101, with more European players showcasing their skills.
Domantas Sabonis finished with 10 points, 16 rebounds, and five assists for the losing side, while Sasha Vezenkov, who’s fighting for his spot with the Kings, added seven points with two rebounds and an assist in a little less than 22 minutes in play. The former EuroLeague MVP didn’t have the greatest shooting night, hitting three out of 10 attempts. Alexey Len had two points.
Safe to say, Sasha Vezenkov has the green light to let that thing fly 🟢 pic.twitter.com/TLAOb9qrLx
