Living up to the expectations can be tricky, especially for any player being selected with the first overall pick in the NBA draft. However, the San Antonio Spurs seem to have the potential to skip any avoidable steps in the development of Victor Wembanyama, the top selection of the 2023 draft.

Painting a picture of confidence in his abilities, the French generational talent is determined to get things going as soon as possible in the league based in North America. Checking his latest outing in the 2023 Preseason and especially a brilliant play at the expense of Reggie Bullock proves the point.

Wembanyama, 19, dribbled through the legs of his opponent, reminiscing famous nutmeg plays of Manu Ginobili. Adding to the highlight, he went on to find a pass for Charles Bassey.

“I’ve been waiting for the occasion to try it,” he commented, “I don’t want to limit myself to what’s conventional. I want to expand my game as much as I can. I think that was a good move.”

Wembanyama was held to a preseason-low 15 points against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. Recovering from a slow start after missing his first five shots, he finished with 3/10 from the field. Overall, he is currently averaging 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest over three preseason appearances. Wrapping up the schedule, his side is set to face the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Friday.
