In his usual relaxed approach, on and off the court, Nikola Jokic attempted to display yet another talent of his following the home win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday.
The Joker took over the postgame press conference. “I can just talk because I know what you are going to ask,” he started, “Ready guys?”
Jokic, 28, recorded the 108th triple-double of his career in the NBA. He broke the brief tie with LeBron James and Jason Kidd to rank fourth overall. Magic Johnson sits third with 138 triple-doubles. Russell Westbrook with 198 and Oscar Robertson with 181 are further up the list.
Moving into the fourth spot was among the questions he asked himself. Similarly, he commented on team and individual performances. “I think that is it,” he mentioned before actually opening to questions.
Teammate Jamal Murray was sidelined indefinitely with a right hamstring injury. “I think the guys can step in,” the Serbian center expressed his confidence in the Nuggets being able to overcome the huge setback.
Averaging 27.4 points, 12.7 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per contest, Jokic fueled a league-leading 7-1 start for the defending champions. And he expects more of the same deeper in the 2023-24 Regular Season.
“Winning is fun and losing sucks,” he mentioned, “We are going to try to win as much as possible.”
Resuming action on Wednesday, the team coached by Michael Malone will host the Golden State Warriors in Ball Arena.
