Practically everything is a new experience for Victor Wembanyama through his rookie season in the NBA. Visiting the Madison Square Garden was the latest item checked off the bucket list.
The French prodigy, top pick of the 2023 NBA draft, participated in the morning shootaround ahead of the game between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks in MSG on Wednesday.

“I heard from so many people that this is the best basketball gym in the world and I’m eager to find out,” Wembanyama previewed the next outing in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season, “I’m definitely expecting some good team and individual performances here.”
Averaging 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, his efforts resulted in a 3-4 start for the Spurs with two losses in a row. Following the meeting with the Knicks, his side will return to Frost Bank Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and the Miami Heat on this week’s installment of NBA Sundays.

The New York visit additionally featured dinner with NFL legend Tom Brady on Tuesday night. “I really liked the vibe from him, very humble and interesting,” he said on the retired quarterback.
“It feels really good to see successful but happy people,” added Wemby, “He just looks like he is happy with the life he’s got, and he makes other people around happy.”
