The Sacramento Kings updated the injury status of Alex Len, ruling him out for six to eight more weeks.
Len, 30, has been dealing with a high ankle sprain. Due to the setback, he has missed the two most recent team outings in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season. Upon evaluation, the update paused his 11th campaign in the league.
Per the press release: “Alex Len continues the rehab process for the right ankle injury he sustained during the Kings vs. Cavaliers game on November 13. Additional testing and further evaluation confirmed that Len will be sidelined for approximately six to eight weeks with a moderate but stable high ankle sprain. Updates on his progression will be provided as necessary.”
The Ukrainian center tallied 2.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, and 0.8 assists over six appearances coming off the bench for head coach Mike Brown, before the injury. JaVale McGee has since emerged as the backup center. However, moving deeper into the season can bring playing time for Serbian big Filip Petrusev amid speculation about a potential return to Europe.
Petrusev, 23, has been held to one brief appearance with the Kings, after moving to Sacramento via trade. Another brief display registered his NBA debut as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Seeking a sixth straight win, the Kings continue a six-game road trip with a visit to the Dallas Mavericks and Slovenian leader Luka Doncic on the upcoming edition of NBA Sundays.
