Adding to the frustration stemming from the San Antonio Spurs battling a losing streak, Victor Wembanyama changed his jersey midway through the first quarter, after being notified of the misspelling of his name. He scored 22 points in the unsuccessful effort against the Golden State Warriors.
“It is a real shame. I don’t know if somebody got fired. The Spurs did their job, checking my name and noticing it,” he commented on the embarrassing situation following the game held in Chase Center on Friday.
Wembanyama, 19, recorded 22 points behind 8/18 field goals, nine rebounds and four assists in the 11th straight loss for the team coached by Gregg Popovich in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season. “Every day, we are fighting to help each other grow,” the French prodigy expressed his continuous commitment to the plan in San Antonio.

“The one thing I have learned is what areas of the games to target at which times,” he added replying to a question about improving since moving his talents to the league based in North America.
Averaging 18.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steals, Wemby has been stuffing the stat sheet in his rookie NBA campaign. However, the Spurs sit in the bottom spot of the Western Conference standings with a 3-13 W-L tally.
Resuming action on the approaching edition of NBA Sundays, Wembanyama will be paired against Nikola Jokic as his side visits the Denver Nuggets’ Ball Arena.
