Alperen Sengun is making waves in the NBA, garnering praise from none other than the legendary Dirk Nowitzki. The talented Turkish center is enjoying a stellar start to the season with the Houston Rockets, boasting impressive averages of 21 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. Under Sengun’s influence, the Texas team is displaying notable improvement compared to the previous season.
At just 21 years old, Sengun continues to refine his skills, recently incorporating a Dirk Nowitzki-esque one-legged fadeaway shot into his repertoire. Nowitzki himself expressed admiration for Sengun’s performances.
“It looks pretty good. Obviously, it’s a work in progress. But I’m really impressed by his game, honestly. The versatility, the passing, the scoring. He’s having an incredible season. I’m happy for him. I’ve never really met him, but he seems like a good dude, every time I hear something from him. So, I’m really happy for him, and hopefully he can keep it up,” Nowitzki shared with Vanessa Richardson of Houston’s Space City Home Network.
The legendary German believes that Sengun is on the right track to enhance his game further.
“You want to get better from year to year. You want to go home in the offseason, work hard, add some stuff to your game. Especially when you’re young, and come back a more complete player. That’s what he’s been doing with the year-to-year improvement, so I’m looking forward to him having an impact season.“
