Their national teams faced off in the battle for 5th place at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, with Latvia beating their Lithuanian brother enemies, ending an outstanding run in the International competition.
Both Kristaps Porzingis and Domantas Sabonis, however, were not there, forced to miss the anticipated appointment due to injuries. In last night’s NBA Regular Season clashes they finally faced each other, as Boston got the big 144-119 win on the road.
The former Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers power forward had a solid night, going close to a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists but missing too much from the field (6/14).
On the other end, the Latvian unicorn was his team’s third-best scorer on the night and went back to Boston with almost a double-double of 24 points (7/11 FG, 3/4 3FG, and 7/8 FT), 9 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
The 2022-23 EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov spent 13 minutes on the floor coming off the bench, scoring only one three-pointer and grabbing 3 rebounds. For Boston, instead, this marked another good game of the Portuguese Neemias Queta, who had 6 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
