The Orlando Magic have been living quite a start to the NBA season, standing 4th in the Eastern Conference with an 18-10 record also thanks to the latest win over the Washington Wizards, bringing home the 127-119 win on the road with an offensive push between second and third quarter.
Franz Wagner absolutely dominated the opponents by almost getting a triple-double in a masterclass of 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, shooting 10/17 from the field, 2/4 from beyond the arc, and 6/8 at the free throw line. “It’s the togetherness that we have, our poise, our communication”, he said.
The German forward continued to praise the team effort in the post-game interviews. “We have guys that like playing with each other and for each other and I think that shows in the last couple of minutes when stuff isn’t going our way that we come together and kind of find our groove again”, Franz Wagner added.
His Italian-American partner Paolo Banchero joined him with 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists, while both Moritz Wagner (11 points and 5 rebounds) and Goga Bitadze (10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) came off the bench to contribute solidly on yet again another brilliant performance before the All-Star Break.
On the losing side, instead, the Washington Wizards couldn’t rely on a sloppy night by Deni Avdija, who only ended with 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, shooting 1/7 from the field, without a single three-point shot made (0/4). Danilo Gallinari and Bilal Coulibaly combined for 13 points off the bench.
