Rudy Gobert on top-seeded Timberwolves: “So many weapons”

Few expected the Minnesota Timberwolves to lead the Western Conference at the end of the calendar year. But that is the case, boosted by the win versus the undermanned Dallas Mavericks in Target Center on Thursday.

French Rudy Gobert complemented a 44-point showing by Anthony Edwards with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists of his own. He made all of his seven attempts from the field over 38 minutes. His side went up to 23-7 in the NBA Regular Season.

“We have got so many weapons, so many guys that draw a lot of attention,” he described the Wolves, “If we just execute and make the game easy, we are hard to guard. When the ball gets a little stagnant, we make it harder on ourselves. And tonight we saw both faces.”

“I think just making the simple play. Not caring who is going to score, and when. Let the game flow,” added the three-time All-Star eager to collect more wins in the 2023-24 campaign.

The Mavs ruled out Luka Doncic on the bottom end of a back-to-back. The Slovenian star dealing with left quadriceps soreness forced him to the sidelines for the third time this season. Also, Kyrie Irving sat out an 11th straight game with a right heel contusion. “Luka did not play, but we faced a team that kind of played a little differently from usual. We have some great moments but also some not-so-great moments,” noted Gobert.
