ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has issued a trade alert, revealing that the Toronto Raptors are sending British player OG Anunoby and Nigerian Precious Achiuwa to the New York Knicks in exchange for the Canadian national team player RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.
Toronto is also acquiring a 2024 second-round pick from the New York Knicks via the Detroit Pistons, while Malachi Flynn is set to move to the Garden.
Anunoby has spent his entire professional career with the Raptors, having been selected as a first-round pick in 2017. He notably elevated his defensive skills, leading the NBA in steals last season and earning a spot on the All-Defensive second team.
This season, under the guidance of Serbian coach Darko Rajakovic, the 26-year-old swingman averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, as well as a steal per game.
Achiuwa played 27 games, averaging 7.7 points with 5.4 rebounds, spending an average of 17.5 minutes in play. Before joining Toronto in 2021, he spent his rookie season in Miami, which drafted him with the 20th overall pick.
As for Barrett, the former No. 3 overall pick from the 2019 draft, he boasts an average of 18.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in the current season. Quickley, a first-rounder from the 2020 draft, has made significant contributions, averaging 15.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game while providing a valuable spark off the Knicks’ bench.
