Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun and New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson have been named the NBA Players of the Week for Week 11 of the 2023-24 season.
Sengun led the Rockets to a 3-1 record while averaging a team-best 24.0 points, to go along with 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals. His best game of the previous week came amid the Rockets’ blowout victory against the Detroit Pistons. He finished with 26 points and nine rebounds in a 136-113 win.
The 2023-24 season has been a career year for Sengun. He is currently averaging 21.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists while shooting 53.7 percent from the field and joins Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokić as the only players averaging at least 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists this season.
He is the first Rocket to win the award since James Harden in November of 2019 and is the youngest to have done so in franchise history at 21 years old.
