Coming out of his first triple-double, Victor Wembanyama discussed individual and team success. He was also asked about potentially playing with the San Antonio Spurs in Paris next season.
With the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers preparing to meet in the 2024 NBA Paris Game today (20:00 CET), the Spurs have been rumored to be locked in for the 2025 visit to the capital of France.
“I would feel very very lucky. It is going to be special. Also some kind of home court advantage, I guess,” noted the young French big, “It is probably going to be one of the most intense and precious games in my life if it happens.”
Wembanyama, 20, packing 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists against the Detroit Pistons in Little Caesars Arena became the youngest player to record a triple-double without a turnover on Wednesday. Another record was combined with playing only 21 minutes to set the second-fastest triple-double in the NBA.
“Doing it in a win is everything,” he said, “I am not the type to talk for nothing. This is the kind of statement we want to make as a team, and this is the type of statement I want to make as a player also.”
Despite attributing to the record-breaking achievements, the restriction on playing time can be removed depending on his progress.
Up to 6-30, back-to-back home games versus the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls follows on Friday and Saturday.
