Following the Toronto Raptors‘ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Darko Rajakovic expressed his frustration with the disparity in free throws. The Lakers had 23 free throws in the final quarter, while the Raptors were only awarded two.
Rajakovic did not hold back and demanded explanations for the officiating criteria. In response, the NBA fined the Serbian coach $25,000.
The official announcement stated, “Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic has been fined $25,000 for publicly criticizing the officiating, as announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.”
Rajakovic took charge of the Toronto Raptors last summer and has a record of 15-23 in his first solo season as an NBA head coach.
