Struggling through the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season, the Washington Wizards enjoy any possible win. On NBA Saturdays, they took down the Atlanta Hawks in State Farm Arena.

Nearing his first triple-double, Deni Avdija settled with a 19-point, 14-rebound double-double alongside nine assists, one steal, and one block. He lasted 37 minutes in the seventh win of the season, the fourth away from home.

“Today it was me. Another day it can be anybody on the team,” the Israeli small forward stirred focus away from his performance on Saturday.

“I feel like the energy was great today,” he said on the team approach against the Hawks, “We hold ourselves to higher standards. We know what we are capable of right now. We know we can do it. We know we can play at a high level.”

The Wizards improved to 7-31, before moving to the bottom end of a back-to-back, hosting the only team lower in the Eastern Conference standings, Detroit Pistons in Capital One Arena on NBA Sundays.

“I am not saying we are going to win every game throughout the season, but for sure it can be better than what we are showing,” added Avdija, “I am excited to get better.”

Avdija, 23, has started in all 37 appearances this season under Wes Unseld Jr. Packing 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest, he has been brilliant since inking a four-year contract extension in October.
