Croatian center Ivica Zubac has been diagnosed with a right calf strain, forcing him to be sidelined for around a month. Zubac will undergo a re-evaluation after four weeks to determine his readiness to return to the court.
“It’s going to be a tough loss,” said LA Clippers head coach Tyrone Lue.
The dynamic connection between Ivica Zubac and James Harden in the pick-and-roll has become a cornerstone of the Clippers‘ offensive strategy.
At 26 years old, Zubac is not only achieving career highs in points (12.4) and blocked shots (1.4) but is also making significant contributions with 9.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists, surpassing his career averages.
In the meantime, 2023 FIBA World Cup champion Daniel Theis and the experienced Mason Plumlee will have to carry the load. If they continue performing as they did against Oklahoma, where they combined for 23 points and 13 rebounds, the Clippers will manage to navigate Zubac’s absence with fewer challenges.
