Miami is reportedly making a change. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Heat is nearing a trade to acquire Charlotte Hornets’ Terry Rozier for a package sending Kyle Lowry and a lottery-protected 2027 first-round pick.

There were rumors in the US media about the Florida team testing the trade market for Lowry and his expiring $29.7 million contract.

After playing the first 35 games as the starting point guard, the former NBA champion was left out of the primary lineup for the last two games. He averaged 8.2 points, four assists, and 3.5 rebounds on 42.6% shooting from the field this season.

After playing for the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and Toronto Raptors for 15 years, the 37-year-old point guard moved to Miami via a sign-and-trade in exchange for former teammate Goran Dragić and Precious Achiuwa in August 2021. He was a part of the Miami team that played consecutive Eastern Conference Finals and the Finals against the Denver Nuggets last season.

Rozier, on the other hand, played 30 games for the Hornets, averaging 23.2 points, 6.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds on 45.9% shooting from the field.

He was traded from Boston to the Charlotte Hornets as part of a sign-and-trade deal involving Kemba Walker in July 2019, after spending four years with the Celtics.
