Doc Rivers has emerged as one of the frontrunners to become the new head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks after the club fired Adrian Griffin, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Griffin coached the Bucks for 43 games.
For now, assistant Joe Prunty will serve as an interim head coach, Woj also reports.
Griffin was hired by the Bucks last June as the team fired 2022 championship coach Mike Budenholzer following Milwaukee’s elimination in the first round of the playoffs. During Griffin’s stint, the Bucks went 30 – 13, being second in the Eastern Conference Standings.
Rivers, who’s currently considered to be on the top of the list of head coach candidates, has been a free agent after being dismissed by the Philadelphia 76ers after the team lost 3-4 to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
