San Antonio Spurs acquired Cedi Osman in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat before the current season, and last night, he played his best game for Gregg Popovich’s team.

The Turkish national team player had a season-high 20 points in a loss to the Washington Wizards, and after the match, he spoke about his role with the new team.

For me, there is no difference between starting in the first five or not; I’m just trying to be myself. At the end of the day, I aim to be aggressive and reflect my energy on both ends of the court. San Antonio Spurs became a new team for me. I am learning many things as the season progresses. I’m starting to feel more comfortable every day. I have now fully understood my role. Gregg Popovich and the assistants want me to bring energy to the court, and I’m trying to do that,” Osman said.

Even though Osman is improving, and Victor Wembanyama continues to excel, the Spurs lost to one of the rare teams with fewer victories. San Antonio is at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 10-37 record, while the Wizards improved to 9-37.

We weren’t ourselves. In the previous two games, against Portland and Minnesota, we played much better. We couldn’t put forth the necessary effort today, and it’s a disappointing loss. We have a good team, but I don’t think we deserved the win today. Yes, there were things we did well, but there is a lot more we could have done better. In the end, it was a good lesson for us,” concluded Cedi Osman, who’s averaging 7,4 points and 2,6 rebounds for the Spurs this season.
