The New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons are finalizing a trade with multiple players switching sides, including French Evan Fournier and Croatian Bojan Bogdanovic.
Alec Burks is following Bogdanovic to the Madison Square Garden. Set on the opposite path, Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidiacono, and two future second-round draft picks were acquired by the Pistons, besides Fournier.
The deal was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski a few hours before the trade deadline for the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season.
The Knicks powering up in the hunt for a ticket to the 2024 Playoffs was combined with offloading the French international after holding him to limited playing time over the last two seasons. Making three appearances in the 2023-24 Regular Season, he averaged 4.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per contest.
A veteran of 694 games played in the league based in North America, the French swingman previously played for the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets. Selected with the 20th pick of the 2012 draft by the Nuggets launched his NBA career. Beyond this season, his contract has a team option for the 2024-25 campaign.
Bogdanovic, 34, carries the experience of 737 appearances, including 47 in the Playoffs. His run featured the Utah Jazz, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards, and Brooklyn Nets, before landing in Motor City via trade in 2022. So far this season, he tallied 20.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest. His contract is partially guaranteed for the 2024-25 season.
