Former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic will be sent to the Charlotte Hornets by the Oklahoma City Thunder, as part of the deal that also includes Davis Bertans and Tres Man in exchange for Gordon Hayward, according to Shams Charania.
Micic’s run with the Thunder in his rookie season in the NBA didn’t go as planned for the Serbian guard. He played in 30 out of the team’s 51 games, spending just 12.0 minutes on the floor and registering 3.3 points and 2.2 assists.
Last summer Micic made the jump to the NBA after emerging as one of the top players outside the league the last couple of years.
He was a EuroLeague season MVP plus Final Four MVP in 2021 and back-to-back champion with Anadolu Efes in 2021 and 2022.
Before signing last summer with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to multiple sources and reports, Micic was reluctant to move to OKC due to the presence of many players in the guard position and wanted a trade.
This finally happened and in theory, he will have the ability in Charlotte to get more minutes.
On the other hand, the Thunder have emerged as one of the top teams in the West, while Charlotte remains among the worst in the East.
