On the NBA Trade Deadline, the Utah Jazz moved two of their pieces to other teams, with Simone Fontecchio and Kelly Olynik going respectively to the Detroit Pistons and the Toronto Raptors.
Talking to the Deseret News a few days after the departures of two close friends and teammates, the team’s leader Lauri Markkanen commented on the latest “wild” days. “It’s part of the business and you go through it every year. But I don’t think you get used to it. You’re good friends with those guys, and you want the best for them and their careers, but at the same time you want to spend as much time with them as possible”, he first said.
“You go to the bus after the game and we all sit together on the bus and now it’s a bunch of empty seats in front of you. Just every day little stuff like that hits you. All of a sudden I have different guys shooting with me at my pregame shooting time rather than Simone [Fontecchio]. So, it’s gonna take some time to get used to. And like I said, it happens every year, but there’s the same empty feeling every year”, he also said about not playing anymore with the Italian forward.
