Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo explained why players like him and Nikola Jokic are getting scratched a lot during games.
“I feel like guys like him… it’s hard to guard them. And sometimes you do anything you can do to stop them and sometimes you scratch them,” Giannis said after the Bucks‘ win over the Denver Nuggets on Monday (12/2) when asked if he sees scratches as a form of a “badge of honor.”
Over the last year, there have been several photos of Nikola Jokic having some big and sometimes deep scratches but also bruises all over his arms and shoulders. Other players who have been shown to carry similar scars are Steph Curry and Giannis himself.
“You can see the scratches because he has a lighter skin than me. I have a lot of scratches on my arms too. My significant other thinks it’s sexy so I love it,” Giannis also mentioned.
“Sometimes people try to stop you they’re gonna do whatever they can and sometimes they’re going to scratch you. People that go to the free throw line a lot get scratched a lot.”
