For a second consecutive season, Mc McClung won the Slam Dunk Contest of the NBA All-Star Weekend.
McClung claimed victory thanks to a reverse dunk over the massive body of Shaquille O’Neal who actually wore the player’s jersey. The Osceola Magic guard leaped to grab the ball from Shaq’s hands, flying over him and finishing with a slam that gave him 50 points.
Thanks to his victory, McClung became the fifth player to become Slam Dunk champion in back-to-back years after Michael Jordan, Jason Richardson, Nate Robinson and Zach LaVine, the last one to achieve the feat in 2015 and 2016.
McClung beat Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown in the Final. Here are the points the two players registered in their showdown:
Mac McClung | 48.0 | 49.4 | 97.4 | 48.8 | 50 | 98.8 |
Jaylen Brown | 48.8 | 47.6 | 96.4 | 48.6 | 49.2 | 97.8 |
Miami Heat Jaime Jaquez and Westchester Knicks were the other two participants, eliminated in the first round.
