Limited playing time at the Milwaukee Bucks often provokes negativity surrounding Thanasis Antetokounmpo.
Social media especially creates most of the criticism, directly linking his spot on the roster of the Milwaukee Bucks to his brother and franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo. However that is certainly not the case. A versatile player, Thanasis has proven his abilities in numerous situations with success in his career.
Damian Lillard sat down with Complex and talked about his teammate. “It’s a lot of guys that, might feel like they were more talented, have more ability, but they could never take his spot,” pointed out the MVP of the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.
“People try to be funny,” the 33-year-old guard accurately reduced outside disrespectful evaluations, “I would put good money that a lot of people talking on Twitter wouldn’t be able to beat him in a game of one-on-one.”
“Defensively, he’s big, he’s strong, he’s athletic, he’s aggressive, he’s physical,” said Lillard, “You’re not going to find a guy that’s more about the team, that shows up and works hard. He’s always in the weight room, always on the court getting his work in.”
“I have a hard time seeing anybody coming in that could replace him at what he does for our team and is also always ready to get in the game and do what he has to do,” he added, “Being somebody that’s behind the closed doors with him, I respect him a lot.”
