After the All-Star break, Nikola Jokic had an opportunity to write NBA history against the Washington Wizards and seized it. The Serbian center joined LeBron James and Russell Westbrook as the only other players to record a triple-double against every team they faced.
He spoke about it at the press conference after the game, noting that he was aware of the possible achievement before the match.
“I remember, when we played over there they told me,” Jokic said. “After I finish my career, it’s a legacy and milestone. I’m going to look back and I’m going to say that’s a really cool thing to do.”
After the 37th win of the regular season, the defending champions are fourth in the West. Can they make a run for the first place with 26 matches left until the playoffs?
“My opinion is you need to be the best version of yourself in the playoffs. Even if you are a top seed and you are not playing well, you are going to lose in the first round, especially how tough the West is. Nobody wants the Lakers or Golden State in the first round. The most important thing is the focus.”
Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone also used the opportunity to praise his star player after another important milestone.
“What’s unique about him is he can impose his will in so many different areas,” Malone said. “Some guys were great scorers, but Nikola, he can score, he can rebound, he can play-make. He can just impact the game across the board. As we always talk about, he’s just the definition of greatness.”
