Losing against the Los Angeles Lakers 123-118, the San Antonio Spurs still managed to enter in the memorable side of history thanks to the No.1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

With an outstanding stat line of 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks, Victor Wembanyama became the youngest player in NBA history and the 15th overall to achieve the rare 5×5 – at least five points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals in one game.

Scoring 30 points for his team’s win, LeBron James talked about such an opponent in the aftermath. “He doesn’t have a ceiling. He can do whatever he wants to do in his career. It seems like he enjoys the game. It seems like he puts the work in, just from the outside looking in. I said a long time ago how special he was, and it’s that simple”, he commented.

The French rookie spoke for himself after the defeat to the Lakers. “I wonder if [Michael Jordan] did it in wins, not losses. To me, it’s secondary. Hopefully, in the future, we can look back and see this as a good performance, but as of today, I can’t be satisfied with a loss”, Victor Wembanyama added.
