Midway through his fourth year with the Oklahoma City Thunder, former Olympiacos player Aleksej Pokusevski has been waived.
After the decision was announced, OKC head coach Mark Daigneault spoke about the decision to part ways with the talented Serbian forward.
“The four years that he’s been here, he’s obviously a guy that we drafted. He came to our program; he was very green physically; he never played over here in the NBA, and I didn’t think he had a great understanding of his own game as a professional player. Three and a half years later, he’s improved in all those things, and that’s what we wanted to be about. Obviously, he wasn’t able to carve out a consistent role for himself this season, but he’s just another guy that we’re rooting for. We believe in and appreciate his commitment to our program over his time here, and I wanted to make sure that I acknowledge that,” Daigneault said.
In four seasons with the Thunder, Pokusevski appeared in 150 games (65 starts) and averaged 7.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 20.6 minutes per game.
