The Utah Jazz defeated the San Antonio Spurs, handing Gregg Popovich’s team its 47th loss of the season, despite Victor Wembanyama reaching a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Jazz‘s John Collins was mic’d up and caught praising the French star:
“You are not from France, you are from Mars,” Collins said and then talked about it in the post-game interview. “Victor’s going to be a great player in this league.”
Wemby also spoke after the game, touching on what he wants to improve.
“It’s a lot about being patient. That’s the key. All the great players today are patient and control the pace of the game. There are always ups and downs in everything, but shot selection, and getting rid of bad shots. I learned how to play more on defense and offense with my teammates, how to fit in the team,” Wembanyama said.
Talking about improving, despite having a great rookie season, he mentioned the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s Shai Gilgeous Alexander and the Philadelphia 76ers‘ Joel Embiid as examples.
“It’s a long season, new challenge every night. You see guys like Shai and Embiid, they might score 30 a night, but every night they are going again to score 30. Once you’ve done it, it’s about repeating.”
