Luka Doncic was having the umpteenth decisive game of the 2023-24 season as leader of the Dallas Mavericks, ending with a crazy double-double of 45 points and 13 rebounds against Cleveland.
However, banking in from halfcourt to ultimately give the Cavaliers the 121-119 victory, Max Strus ruined the party for the Slovenian icon, who shot 17/29 from the field with 6/11 from deep and 5/5 at the line.
The Dallas Mavericks superstar also had 9 rebounds, going very close to his 11th triple-double of the 2023-2024 NBA season, but he wasn’t able to guard that shot.
“Incredible shot. That was just an incredible shot. It was my fault, I should have pressed forward [on Max Strus]. I thought we played a good game, but that was rough, obviously”, he commented about it.
This game also marked Kyrie Irving’s return to Cleveland, scoring 30 points in the loss. “Cleveland loved me through my mistakes and I love them for it”, he shared after the defeat.
