For the first time in 14 years, an NBA player has grabbed 31 rebounds. And it’s Jusuf Nurkic’s case.
He couldn’t avoid the defeat against the 1st seed in the Western Conference, but still recorded one of the best games of his professional career with 14 points, 31 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting 7/16 FG.
Speaking following the defeat that came against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Bosnian center kept it clear. “It doesn’t really matter. It was great, but we lost the game”, he said with disappointment.
This amount of rebounds grabbed in a single NBA game is something truly new to the Phoenix Suns, as Jusuf Nurkic broke the all-time franchise record. He’s now followed by Tyson Chandler (27 vs Atlanta in 2016) and Paul Silas (27 vs Cincinnati in 1971).
So far in the 2023-24 season, one of the best ones of his 9-year NBA career with three different teams (Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns), the 29-year-old center has been averaging 11.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, shooting 51.6% from the field.
