On NBA Sunday’s action, the Houston Rockets were going up against the Sacramento Kings in a battle of dominant big men between Domantas Sabonis and Alperen Sengun.
The Turkish 21-year-old, however, was forced to leave the court in a wheelchair late in the fourth quarter after landing roughly on his right knee and ankle. Trying to defend against a shooting attempt by the Lithuanian opponent, Houston’s phenomenon probably suffered a serious injury.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he will undergo an MRI on his right knee and ankle today, to understand more about his injury.
Before exiting the encounter, Alperen Sengun had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, shooting 7/14 from the field. “It doesn’t diminish the win in general. I think it was one of our best road wins. He had a huge part in that”, Ime Udoka praised his performance against the Kings.
His teammate Fred VanVleet commented on what happened. “Injuries are part of the game. We all understand that when we signed up, but it’s always tough to see your teammates go down, especially the young ones who haven’t been through it before”, he said in the post-game press conference.
Alperen Sengun had to be wheeled to the locker room.
